An ancient and healthy grain, Freekeh is actually nothing but…wheat! Its uniqueness comes however from the timing of harvesting and its preparation process. Wheat is harvested while still green and then carefully roasted to create the famous Freekeh grains, reputed for their delicious smoky flavor.
Compared to other grains, Freekeh contains more protein, fiber, vitamins, minerals and lower fat. Easy to cook, it may be used to replace rice and pasta in most dishes. It tastes great when paired with poultry, meat and vegetables; or simply cooked with a side cup of yogurt!
